Build Your Own Shed

It’s one thing to have a place to put your building supplies, garden tools and other out-doors related items, but it is quite another to have a storage area that you have built yourself. The great thing about garages and sheds is that you don’t have to be an expert to build them yourself. Sure, it sounds like a big job, but really, all it takes is preparation, patience, and some good old-fashioned elbow grease.

The first place to start is to decide whether your are going to build a shed or a garage. If you decide to build a shed, then you have a couple more decisions to make. Are you going to buy a set of storage shed plans, find a set of free shed plans, or purchase one of the many shed kits that are available?

If you are going to build your own garage, then you will need to decide if it will be attached to the house or a free-standing structure. There are garage kits available for purchase, and you can also buy a set of plans or find a free set.

The plus side of free storage shed plans or garage plans is that, well, they’re free. On the other hand, if you buy a set of plans, then you know for sure that they have been tested out. Free plans will most likely be reliable, but it’s worth the time to go over the blueprints with a fine-tooth comb just to make sure everything is where it should be.

Another option is the kit. Shed kits and garage kits can both be purchased at large home improvement stores such as Lowe’s and Home Depot. If you are concerned about price, just consider that where there is a warranty, there is peace of mind. Not only that, you’ll have your plans and your materials all set and ready to go.

If you’re still not sure about building your own storage structure, then there is another option: the Tuff Shed. Tuff Shed does have a kit model, but most of Tuff Shed’s product line is made of structures that are installed at no extra cost. If you aren’t too excited about working outside for so many hours, but still need a place to store your chopped wood, that old green bicycle that you just won’t get ride of, your garden tools, or whatever else, then this might be the best option for you.

Tuff Sheds are installed quickly and have good warranties, so it is worth looking into. Whatever you decide on, you are well on your way to having the shed or garage that you have been waiting for.
